Thanks for the advice. +1. The P5Q-E looks like a good board, and for a little less than I was planning on spending. Are you using yours with CrossFire at all? I've got an HD4850, and if the board works out, I'd consider buying another HD4850 and hook them up in CrossFire configuration.

I only have one card, but from what I have heard it works great with crossfire

You won't regret buying this board, looks good, overclocks well, runs cool, and its awesome

Have fun!

btw, thanks for the rep

In matter of fact bios are ,as much as i checked it, the same, so there is no possible pros to deluxe.

You need to play with the CPU GTL voltages! Sadly, this is different from all setups, so you need to try yourself! I actually got 200mhz out from the same vcore, just by playing with GTL for 2 hours!

The NB GTL didn't give me anything. So don't care about that! And also play with the NB volt, when I lowered mine to 1.26v I got 50mhz extra, but on my old E8500 I had to use 1.28, so try for yourself and see what gets stable!

BTW, your deluxe is the same as my P5Q-E, the only difference is that you get some lether cd case and mouse pad, and that it says deluxe instead of E lol

Have fun

I"ve just gotten my P5QL-Pro mobo to run a Q6600 at 3.6Ghz. Woot! [as my teenage daughter
would say :-) ].

I'm running with a Vcore of 1.46V (high, but that's what it needs for stability). I'm running NB
voltage at 1.2V, and using a 400FSB with a x9 CPU multiplier. My ram is actually rated for
667, but seems to overclock just fine to 800Mhz with 6-6-6-14 timings, and a ram voltage
of 2.1V.

I'm using an OCZ Vendetta cooler (which appears to be identical to one of the other brands
posted here, but with the OCZ name on it). Under extreme load, a couple of the cores
get up to 68C. I could cool this down a bit by running lower Vcore, but then it won't
be stable!

I'm also running extra case fans--a 90mm out the back, in an 80mm on the side of the case
right above the Vendetta, blowing cool outside air in the side, with the 90mm on the case
back drawing air outwards.

My application is realtime radio astronomy signal processing, which drives this thing pretty
hard!

The settings really all depend on what you are trying to accomplish and can vary greatly depending on components used. I downloaded the P5Q series modded bios from XtremeSystems by Ket. Voltage is gonna be different for your cpu since I run a E8500 but I was able to get 475MHz FSB with a performance level of 8 stable with 1.36v on the NB/MCH with a NB GTL of .64. SB/MCHIO voltage is set to 1.2 and VTT /FSB termination is set to 1.3v.

CPU load line calibration is set to enable, cpu spread spectrum and pcie spread spectrum are both disabled. you're gonna have to play with cpu multiplier and voltage but you shouldnt have to mess with the cpu gtl reference voltage settings since you have a dual core. Memory timings and voltage you're gonna have to tweak on your own to.

Best of luck and to reduce your reading try this thread:

http://www.overclock.net/new-members...mpilation.html

Its got all the guides for overclocking linked within the main post.

hey darkline what difference does the "mBios 1703" make? i was looking on that site but i am still unsure does it show different settings like voltage or is it a better written bios?

if you like people add this to your sig, looks nice.
