I got the P5Q-E and ran 1.5 volts in NB because i was stupid enough to know it was 65nm. even at those volts it was still cool. Now i have it @ 1.2 volts with 400fbs Q6600.

Yeah, it's just that the standard P5Q has a simple heatsink on the NB and that's it, not the fancy copper stuff with pipe found on the P5Q-E.

if your temps are bad patriot, why not watercool it?
![]() hehe, you can put on a better heatsink or something, the Thermalright HR-05 Sli is really good, I had on of them on my old motherboard, works good dropped 10-15c

Well I just set the NB voltage to 1.26 and it's stable so it should be cooler now...thanks though!

I've only been able to get my OC stable at 3.6 for about 4 and half hours under orthos and then it fails. My memory is running at 1080 which I think I'm going to drop back to 1:1 cuz I know for sure it will run at 900 but anyone have any suggestions on MB voltage settings? I have my cpu at 1.43125 and my NB at 1.20 (everything else auto). Should I possibly look into setting the FSB termination or cpu gtl settings? I checked a lot of other posts and forums and it seems that most people agree the gtl settings are more for stability with quads but I'd like to get my OC stable. On my IP35 pro my cpu was at 3.4 stable with 1.4 volts so not really sure what else to change.

Check your southbridge voltages. That was causing me issues, especially with my RAID0 and RAID1 array. I bumped it to 1.3v and i was stable.

wow.... 1.3 on the SB. I didn't change those voltages because there are only .1 steppings and on my IP35 pro I only had the SB at 1.15. since I do have a RAID0 setup I will try those settings tonight and see what happens. I cleaned the NB and SB and put AS5 on them so I don't think heat will be too much of an issue.
EDIT: on a side note, did anyone install the EPU 6 engine software? I did but then uninstalled it because it kept an icon in the system tray just stating it wont run in OC mode.

No, i didn't touch EPU. I fear it would cause voltage problems.

I thought maybe a driver would be installed for it (on the abit board i had the uguru was actually a device listed in device manager) but i dont think its like that for the asus. i dont think there is any harm i just didnt want the annoying icon in the system tray.
I must say i really like the new MB. the layout was perfect and was able to work on better cable management. i feel like a goof for not looking through the manual as i was unable to locate some of the 3pin fan connectors at first so my one side panel fan has been out of commission. i got off from work tomorrow so i should have plenty of time to tweak.
