Hi all, Ive got a Big problem, My Asus P5QC seems to crash in some games - COD5/Left 4 dead demo/Grid after like, 5 min to 1hr, and YET i can play Games like Cnc red alert 3 Over 8hrs straight and it doesent crash.
__________________By Crash i mean i play the game and in the middle of it i get a Black screen with the Music/Sounds looping and then after like 5-10 sec the pc shuts off. It is NOT An overheat Issue, i checked my temps - 44C max on CPU/45C max on Mobo and 72C on my 8800GTX. It is NOT an overclock issue either, I Even tried to put everything back to stock - CPU/RAM/GPU Speeds but it still crashes. It is NOT a Soundcard/Driver issue, As i have Changed the Drivers didnt help at all. It is NOT a Videocard/Driver issue, As i have changed the drivers and got the Latest ones. What can it be?.. its Really annoying, Because most of the games i cant play are actually my favorite ones, But games like Red alert 3/Far Cry 2 run perfectly fine. I hope some of you could help me, Thanks in Return.

Have you tried the Vista event log in the control panel? It might tell you.
__________________Also just because you got a newer driver for your sound/graphics card doesn't mean it's not either of those. I'd lean towards graphics myself but that's only because I had pretty much the exact same problem with Vista before. Same thing also, some games played great, and some crashed after a few minutes. Finally got a driver that Vista liked and now I'm all good.

It turns out that Vista didn't like the latest driver for my 3870 (I think it was 8.2 or 8.3) Then I tried uninstalling the driver and going to the previous driver and when I uninstalled it, it left some part of the driver and as a result the new driver was partially corrupted. After doing a lot of research I found that if I used Drive Cleaner Pro (in the download section) and uninstalled it twice (rebooting between each) in safe mode that ensures that it cleared out everything from the old driver, then I just installed the previous driver( not the latest, but the next one back) and it seemed to work OK then.
__________________Before trying that, go to the device manager, click on your graphics card and try rolling back to the previous driver and see if that works first. That takes a lot less time and during my research it appears that solved the problem for some people. It didn't work for me, but it's a lot faster than all those reboots just in case that works for you.

Well im back, however news are bad, I tried DriverCleaner, didnt help, I installed XP SP2 and still same problem (However it takes longer to crash now) But it still does... anymore suggestions?
__________________EDIT: my 8800gtx died yesturday actually, There was a click and i could smell smoke i tried everything to bring it to life but it didnt help, So i got a ati radeon 4870 now along with 2GB OCZ DDR2 800mhz and now the performance is way better and no more crashes.
