OK I have been kicking around ideas for a while now...

I am leaning towards this Idea vs i7 Idea.

GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3P LGA 775 DDR3

To be used with Either, E8*00 or Possibly a 45nm Quad.(I don't want 65nm)

Reason Why I am now thinking this board is because of the Following:

1: I was given 4 x 1 gb Sticks of transcend aXeram 1600mhz DDR3
2: 4gb of Ram vs 3gb of Ram = No brainer, MMO's Like more Ram!
3: Warhammer Online utilizes 2 cores. So no need for the "8 threads" of i7
4: Choosing and overclocking E8400 Would give me the best overall performance I believe.

So . Looking for other's to tll me that this is a smart choice, as well as a cheaper choice.

Any issues with this motherboard that I should be aware of? I knwo that since I will be useing all 4 DIMM's that my potential OC on the memory may be limited, but hey, Free Ram at 1600mhz should prove to make me happy =)

So yet again, Looking strictly to the fact that I use my computer for Warhammer Online, Heavy RvR with 400 or more people, and for watching Anime (high def encodes) Would this not be the smartest choice overall?

I think it will fit all your requirements. Reasonable price, although only one x16 PCI-e slot.

I woul dhave as well I think, but then I was sent this memory for free, so i have to use it somehow, Just think I will waiste my time on i7.

if it were up to me, I would have got the DDR2 UD3P, e8400, cooler and 4x2 gb Ram to be honest hehe

but with 4x1 gb DDR3 1600mhz Ram sitting on my desk the answer is rpetty simple haha

either i7 or this, and I think this will benefit my usage much more than i7

Great build, if you are not worried about buying a new chip in the future if and when games are developed to actually take advantage of the other two cores or hell even 8 threads go for it.

i have been tinkering with a new build with the DDR2 version of that board and a Q9550 because i do not want to spend the cash on a fast E8400 dual and have a great game i want to enjoy be released which is optimized for quads making me regret my purchase and deal with sub par performance.

i7 920 = $300 + expensive platform but you already have the ram!
Q9550 = $320
E8400 = $165

so much cheaper

well if i were you, I would do the i7 vs the 9550, price dif is just soo close.

but with i7
most ocmponents are 300 lol

300 proc,
300 mobo
and close to 250 with 3x2gb kit =)

Fortunately , I know that I will be playing thi damn warhamme rOnline for a long time, sicne thats what I do lol, play MMO's forever

If I found me an inexpensive 9550, i would get that for this setup in a heartbeat

you can run i7 in dual channel with your 4x1, and then grab 2 more gigs of similar stuff later as an upgrade

honestly, i'd go with an i7 if i had ram given to me. the 920 proc is actually cheaper than a core2quad by a few bucks, so the difference in your cost will only be around $100, and you'll be getting a board that is much more solid and future-proof in the x58.
