The cap might be the problem or it might just be the tip of the iceberg. RMA that bad boy.

speaking of RMA how long is the warranty on a Gigabyte board?

I may have some trouble with the supplier as they have ceased normal trading but who knows.

The warranty for Gigabyte boards is 3 years from the date of manufacturer.

I personally would reseat the CPU first and see if maybe a pin is out of alignment. I had it happen recently with a friend's build.

Warranty Period by Product

Motherboards

o All motherboards carry a 3 year limited warranty (First 2 years parts & labor, 3rd year parts only)

Warranty Effective On Date of Manufacture

GIGABYTE determines warranty based on the manufacture date. The manufacture date can be verified by the serial number found on the product. The first four digits after "SN" determine the year and week of manufacturing date. For example:

"01)04719331729028(21)SN0213030585" represents the 13th week of 2002

I inproperly reseated a CPU today, actually bent some pins on it too (Luckly fixed it with my trusty pocket knife!) Mine just tried to boot up and it turns on for 4 seconds then turns off.

Less you do to the board the better. More you mess with it the less chance you have for a RMA.
