I didn't do any pre-lapping heat runs, but I've never had a chip just fail on me, and if I burn it up OC'ing the warranty is void anyway. If you look at my build log you'll see that it was VERY uneven and the nickel layer was very inconsistent so I feel like it was worth doing.

I did not lap my TRUE though, as someone told me they were machined so well they didn't need it, but having looked through these forums I may have to take it apart and lap it too.

Let us know how the overclocking goes. I will be posting my results and build thread this weekend . My goal is 3.8 with HT on

Ok well it's gotten to the point where I'm considering returning this mobo and getting the evga. I followed the gigabyte guide to the T (including the memory settings even though I have ddr3 1600) wouldn't post. I tried having the memory timings hit 1600 even, no post. I tried setting uncore to 2x memory and 2x+1 memory, no post.

I jacked my vcore up to 1.5, no post, 1.55 QPI and 1.4 QPI PLL

WILL NOT F"IN POST

it might just be a bad overclocking chip, or it's something else, maybe the ram. pull out 3 sticks to make it 6gb and see if that works.

Wylker, I'm running at 4.0 with no HT. I will post my settings in just a minute.

Running 1.64 to the ram, my instincts tell me that this is a memory problem, as it won't post. I'm not sure if QPI voltage is a big problem with 12 gb or what. I've been leaving all my timings on auto, but I wonder if that could be a problem too?

CPU-Z is a bit odd @ 1600mhz, here are the ss:
