So I decided to reload windows yesterday atfer noticing that my computer was compleltely hijacked buy some viruses and junk so why not right?

So everything goes as planned, and I start loadin the drivers from the Asus Disc.

Starting with Norton . ew. Took forever, computer rebooted. Finished installing norton and the disc wouldnt load =? suddently the Disc start loading and it resumes the next install, some Intel chipset "inf" updater?
computer reboots, and I forgot to take the disc out so it auto loaded into Freedos somehow lol

i use command reboot and go into windows without the disc loaded. In windows the Auto installer prompts me to load the disc, i do so. and Nothing.

spent about 30 minuits before going to bed trying to just get the friggin CD to load... Open Close, Clean, Canned air blastes =(

So I went to bed somewhat angry because here I am thinking that either my CD Rom is dieing, the Drive disc is Dieing, or maybe now suddenly my motherbaord doe sno tlike my IDE CD Rom....

I have some old NEC cd burner / dvd reader from forever ago.

Is there some random issue with IDE CD Rom and SATA harddrives?

Should I bother buying a new SATA Drive?

Reccomend a Cheap but worthy DVD Burner for SATA?

I've had pretty good luck with this one. Installed in a few clients computers and they seem to like it. The only thing I can say about it is it does 'rev' up kinda loud when installing/burning. Other then that, it's been reliable.

Oh, look slike a new sku too. I do not have any stock in yet, but if I decide to go with this one, I can get it a bit cheaper through Employee Discount through TigerDirect. Plus I wont have to pay tax and I get a 30% discount on all shipping =)

got about 1600 incomming for the end of the month =(

Hopefully I can just get this friggin disc running so I can finish installing my network drivers!
