Default UD3R build help.

This is my first build so I need some help. Things I have are in the sig rig.

The UD3R has 2 power led connectors 1 is 2 pin and the other is 3 pin. Are they both the same and do the same things and work the same way? Thanks.

And I have 6 fans on the NZXT tempest and I don't know how to plug them either to the mother board or the psu? what kind on the motherboard? Or all on the psu? And what is the pwr fan connector on the mobo? How do I power the fan on the power supply (is it the pwr fan connector on the mobo)? Thanks.

sys fan 1/pwr fan(pin 1-3 Pin 1. GND, 2 +12V, 3 Sense.) sys fan2 4 pin(pin 1-4 pin 1. GND, 2. Speed control, 3. Snense, 4. +5v.) the fans only have 3 pins and will only connect on the first 3 pins.
I see on system fan 2 it wouldn't be connect to +5V. So yeah these are the pin specs listed in the manual. Thanks.

the PSU powers their fans by themselves

PWR_FAN might be the cpu fan

I don't know how to plug that mobo, certainly others will help

Fans in the case usually plugs with some power cable (4 color)

you should get a installation guide with your mobo, read that, look at the pictures and you will be a lot smarter, typically you connect the cpu fan to the mobo and another system fan to the mobo, rest you connect to the power supply

You don't need to plug any of the system fans into the motherboard, they can all just plug into molex connectors from the power supply (the big 4 pin plugs).
The fan for the CPU fan will plug into CPU_FAN, PWR_FAN is not needed unless you plan on chucking a RAM fan in (much like the Corsair Dominator Airflow Fan)...
And Cr4zyH3ad is right, the PSU fan powers itself. Make sure you've plugged in the 24-pin ATX cable as well as the 6 pin cable up near the CPU

What you want to do is daisy chain the intake fans (the front and side) together and then connect them to the PSU and then daisy chain the exhaust (the top and back) and do the same thing. If the case has a fan controller built in, attach whatever fans you want to be able to control to the controller by adding it to the chain. If the case is fancy enough to have 2 fan controllers (1 for intake and 1 for exhaust) then simply add each to the respective chain and the other end to the PSU.

You'll want to read your mobo's manual and your case's manual and compare them to see what each front panel wire does versus where it's supposed to go on the front panel pins. I usually do this before I put anything in the case because they can be very difficult to work with since they are so small.

The fan on the PSU will go by itself, it doesn't need to plug into anything.

Those sound like a typical pinout for a 3-pin fan header. Are you reading this from the motherboard manual, or do the fan headers actually match that? Many case fans these days are just molex, very large, 4-pin plugs that go into the PSU.

Good luck with your first build, I hope I answered your questions!

You have 3 fan headers on this board! The connectors are made so you can’t plug anything the wrong way. The fans from the case I would plug into the PSU directly unless you want some control over it than I would invest in a fan controller.

Ok. I will get this. I have a question what the difference between the 3 pin power led connector and the 2 power led connector is. I know like most would need a 2 pin but what difference would a 3 pin make and what is it used for (what will the wires with 3 pins make in difference)? Is it for cases that have color changing leds? Thanks.

I built 5 systems just last week all based on the EP45-UD3R (rev.1.1). Use the 2-pin connectors, the ones within the front panel connector cluster at the bottom right corner, unless your case has a 3-pin led plug. The 3-pin connector right above the F-Panel cluster can indicate the operational state of the system, ON for S0 (awake), BLINKING for S1 (standby, no system context lost), and OFF for S3 (standby, system cache lost)/S4(suspend to ram)/S5(hibernate) states.

As for connecting the fans, how is up to you to the extent that your case permits.
Some cases come only with AMP MATE-N-LOK Molex connectors (4-pin in a row, with two corners rounded) to the PSU for the fans. Others, like the Centurions I used, give you the option of using the system fan connectors (SYS_FAN1, SYS_FAN2, etc.) on the board.
I suspect that your NZXT, because of the abundance of case fans, will have AMP MATE-N-LOK Molex connectors or SYS_FAN to MATE-N-LOK Molex extensions.

If your case fans have the 3-pin SYS_FAN* connectors you might want to consider plugging the rear system fan into the SYS_FAN1 connector, and the front system fan (or at least one of them if you have more than one) into the SYS_FAN2 connector. As grmnasasin0227 said daisy-chain the other fans (the ones on top, maybe) to MATE-N-LOK Molex connectors from the PSU. As Powelly said, you don't need the PWR_FAN connector unless your RAM modules have their own fans.

Whether you go with this scheme or connect all fans to the PSU, is in the end, up to you. Go with the choice of least clutter.

Mod well and prosper.

Will the 2 pin power led connector also do this "ON for S0 (awake), BLINKING for S1 (standby, no system context lost), and OFF for S3 (standby, system cache lost)/S4(suspend to ram)/S5(hibernate) states." are they like the same thing? Thanks.

My nzxt doesn't seem to have power led Those aren't power led connectors those are hard drive leds.

Can Hd leds be used as power leds? I think HD leds are more usefull though.

I'll just plug the rear fan to the mobo and the rest of the fans to the psu.

Will the leds be able to connect to both the PSU and the Mobo? (I see HDD led and a separate wire from the case looks like it's for the leds that has a 4 pin molex. So I connect the HDD led and the 4 pin molex too right? I mean the both come from the front cover 2 separate 2 pin wires. So do I connect both of them?) Thanks
