Hey Open1Your1Eyes0, I'd suggest opening your eyes and reading the T.O.S.

It doesn't hurt it at all. I've ran my E8400 at 4.4ghz with 800mhz RAM.

I apoligize for I was aware of the 24 hour bump rule but I thought that was only pertainant to the sale/wanted threads.

Did you have to increase/decrease voltage anywhere (other than the CPU/RAM)?

Well considering that the FSB you might think is the FSB is not? It is quad pumped. So a 266Mhz (real) FSB is a 1066Mhz FSB. Your CPU has say a 9x multiplier so 266Mhz x9= 2,400Mhz?

Lets say you have that 266Mhz/1066Mhz FSB and you set the ratio at 1:2 your Ram would run at 1066Mhz. Well sometimes any ratio could/might be to much and cause the OC to BSOD. With unlinked you are not bound by a ratio. What I called fine tuning. You can set the RAM as you want, be it higher or lower. No you are not having something to good to be true. You still need to have respect for clocks. But not ratio based.

i find it henders performance because one or the other has to wait for the other.

just run Everest memory benchmark and compare the results.

mine were @ 4.3ghz @1066 mhz ram , i got 9000,10000,7000 mb/s

then 4.3ghz @ 975 or so 1:1 divider, 11000,10000,9000 mb/s.

It is not harmful, I use to run an nvidia board and came up with some wierd ratios.

I think the only drawback of nvidia boards is that their are fsb holes (don't know if it is becuase of the choice of unlinking ram but fsb holes only exist on nvidia boards)

This is what I was looking for. I knew there's a sacrifice somewhere. Thanks for your input tK FuRY. +rep for you

EDIT: By the way, those E8400 temps you have are unbelievable. Is that heatsink really THAT good?

My E8400 doesn't require cpu vtt changes at all, so I only needed to change CPU, Mem, and NB voltages.
