Default Constant Loud Fan Noise with 3GHZ +

If I OC my Q6700 @ Stock 2.66ghz to 3GHZ + (so anything above), I'm getting this Loud Constant Fan Noise it sounds like when I boot up and for ever. What would cause this? I'm new to OCing.

I'm guessing that you're using the stock HSF. You probably have your fan speed set to auto, and the extra heat from your overclock is exceeding the cooling capability of the heatsink.

I believe all you did was disable your auto fan throttling in the BIOS. that is my guess.

its because you have your fan connected to the CPU fan header.

and in BIOs its set to auto, whenever it senses a "moderate" temperature gain it will raise the fan speed to compensate.

Boot into bios, go to fan controls or PC Health Status, and change the CPU fan speed.

Would this be QFan? Thats all I could find in Hardware Monitor with Vcore Options. I had QFan disabled; I now have it enabled; and it set it to a higher threshold (60C)

that should do it

edit: looking at the manual for your motherboard, that seems to be the ONLY option as the cpu fan speed isn't manually configurable.
