Default Heatsinks on cpu power phases

Hello, I have the 750i ftw and I was wondering if it would be a good idea and give me higher overclocks if I put ram sinks on the cpu power phases.

I noticed one of the top of the 6-phase power got up to 80c. I was testing at 461.5fsb, but failed after 17 minutes of linepack. Mosfet is also pretty hot too.

I will check your responces when I wake up. Goodnight!

i saw a thread sometime this year about a guy who put GPU RAMsinks on his motherboard capacitors and various VRM's and achieved hundred(s) of MHz higher on his CPU overclock. I'd suggest you do the same, just to see if there's a difference in performance. 80c isn't high for a VRM (capacitors can go well beyond 100c and the motherboard PCB is over 100c IIRC), but i think there would be an advantage to them running cooler.

Yeah, I slightly remembered that thread too, but I couldn't find it, and I wasn't sure where exactly he put the heat sinks. Thanx for the response. I think I will expirement!

Just so you know, you generally want to put them on these (mosfets)

Although as a rule of thumb if they burn your figer and are in the VRM area then it needs some passive cooling

I think you mean MOSFETS

Capacitors are commonly rated at 85c or 105c

I don't know about you but I don't think 105c is "Well beyond 100c"

Excuse me, but what I meant was what do you think about putting heatsinks on the ferrite core chokes. I wasn't sure what they were called at first, but I found some pictures online, and those were the ones getting to 80c.
