64bit XP is a horrible operating system...very flakey to say the least.

1. Download the latest BIOS from Asus website

2. Unzip it and put it on the flash drive. It will be a .bin file.

3. Restart computer and enter BIOS. In the BIOS screen you will see something called "ezflash"

4. Select it and enter the ezflash tool.

5. It will show you the drives you have on your computer...select the pen drive. It will then show the .bin file. Select it and run it.

It's actually really easy to flash the BIOS on Asus motherboards. I have found it works best to use an empty flash drive. If there is other files on it...sometimes it says "to many .bin files on drive"

Give it a try and let us know what happened.

Then damn. This is beginning to sound like I'm in way over my head. I sure wish somebody else were helping.

Edit: oh, somebody else is helping, but they aren't reading through the thread first.

Are you willing to give reformatting one more shot since you now have the latest BIOS? And if so, only install the motherboard drivers from the motherboard's installation CD this time (unless, of course, that's what you've been doing all along). I mean, don't go with the latest versions until everything is working smoothly.

So, does this mean that you've never used any motherboard drivers other than what's on the CD that came with the motherboard?
