Well then, that sounds like a BIOS problem. You can get those chips fixed, but i wouldn't recommend it. It sounds like you are going to need a new motherboard. I'll help you find one. Just tell me what your price range is and what socket ur CPU is and what you need it to do.

Are you able to install a fresh copy of any OS? or does it not even get past the first boot screen? Try unplugging any attached usb storage devices, that caused it for me once.

the processor is a Pentium 540J. Price range is up to 100 bux.

I have tried to re-intsall the OS but the comp does nothing on boot but power up.

Have you tried changing the output on the psu? I've accidentally switched it before and couldn't boot.

I think he is saying that the fans turn on but nothing comes up on the screen at all. So he wouldnt be able to install a new OS copy

Too bad the P5GV-MX is no longer available on newegg. Don't trust my word on that mobo though, get someone who knows more to clarify.
