Default figured it had all gone wrong :(

Random computer failure ftl!! no, but anyways quick question.

My computer was way to cluttered, had good ideas on great wire management, so ofcourse i shut my pc down and lets not foret vital info my computer is overclocked to 4.03ghz right now 100% stable can 24.7 p95 easy on all settings w/ q9550 / ep45-ud3p. but anyways long story short, i did the cable management, positive the places i put them in wasnt shorting thing out, was basically udderly awesome. looked amazing. BUT i turned my computer and on and turns on 8 seconds later shuts off. and what do you know it shuts off in sequence about 50 times....at the exact same times which is weird which doesnt sound like an overclock failure...so i freaked of course and ripped out gpu and took out bios battery and put it back in and wow its doing same thing shutting off after few seconds over and over and over and over and over. so i try everything and im feeling screwed. tried everything.. even re seated everything. in conclusion i decided to take out bios, left it out for like 45min and FINALLY it worked again...dunno how or why or WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? does anyone know what could have happened? because i put all my cables back the way they were and now im afraid to do management again but i NEED TO BAD. and i dont need to be afraid to....but! when i turned on it asked for good settings because of an overclock failure...is this normal/weird? can i still run my supposedely stable overclock on 24/7 p95? and *** could have happened? i did do a hard shutdown cuz i was excited to do the cable management so fast(hold power button 5 seconds till shutdown) so i just shuter down real fast. could thata been the problem then i went unpluggin stuff and the computer freakedout? but it made me change to good settings when it finally worked again cuz OC failed? im so confused..but thankful it actually works thought it was a goner! and this has happened before but neer like this and never this bad...so you guys think it was my overclock? cuz i really need to run these oc settings..i was still going. infact i was stable at 4.3 ghz too i just wasnt running it for my girlfriends sake...so sup with that man? any input?

Try to not pull the cables to tight, give them some slack. Another possibility is that you have a break in the line of one of your PSU cables and by putting stress on the cable it separates the copper just enough to break the circuit.

OK, now I know that you may have checked all of tis, but from personal experience, re-check!!

1. Before you disconnect everything again, load the optimized defaults in BIOS. You can always re-overclock later. Also, once put back together, on boot, go into BIOS, and just for ****s and giggles load optimized defaults again, F10 and enter, lol.

2. If you are running wiring underneath your mobo, double check to make sure you have enough clearance, and that no solder points are pushing into the housing of your cables.

3. Some cabling may act funny if bent at too acute an angle, or if it is old or has been bent up a million times, etc... you know the drill here, inspect every cable before re-wiring looking for indentations/cuts (perhaps from sharp case edges or solder points). Also remove any cables that are all bent to **** or old. Replace them (cheap enough for peace of mind).

4. Check to make sure that you are not overloading any part of your PSU (IE: several components running off a weak rail).

If you have any adaptors or gender changers in use, check to ensure they are snug and undamaged.

5. Now this is my own theory and unfounded at my end, but could you be running something that is giving off electromagnetic interference too close to a sensitive component? Even if shielded, some wiring can emit interference. I do not know the particulars on this, and am no electrical engineer, but have had some wierd issues that seemed to come from EM interference before, so you may want to just keep this in mind.

Anyhow, long story short, as beautiful as it looked, something was wrong. This is evidenced by your having no issues upon defaulting back to your previous wiring scheme. Keep tinkering with it and keep us updated, lol.

Good luck to you! Wiring can be a real pain in the ass when you want it to both look nice and be functional!

You know, im wandering if what i highlighted in red might have been it, and ty for a saphisticated reply But yeah i have like 7 molex's pigging backing off my graphics card six pins, (4870's have 2 six pins with 2 molexs on each one) but technically its all feeding off of my gfx card and the adapter sent from the psu (BFG Gamers 650w). so im wandering if thats it because i unhooked my card, reworked molex's, put battery back in, re-wired everything, and put battery back in. and vualah it worked. so yeah..process of elimination ftw.
