Wow, seems I'm having more and more issues with this thing.
![]() OK so my PC has been running all day just fine - no issues. I've been browsing and folding the whole day, and I decided I would switch off to let it cool down for a bit. Every time I boot up , it switches on, no input to the screen, DVD drive light on, sits there for about 5 seconds then shuts off, then about 3 seconds later it starts up perfectly, which it has done for about as long as I can remember. No problems I think, so I go and start up COD4 and get into a game. My FPS is sitting at around 20 in game. I knew instantly that my PCIE link had yet again dropped to 1x, which I thought I had fixed, but it appears to have stuck now. So first thing I do is shut down and go have a look at the BIOS to see if my PCIE freq. was still at 105, which it was(strange, as this fixed my PCIE issue before). All my settings are as normal, so I reboot and go into my dualbios utility, which tells me that I'm booting from the backup BIOS, despite the fact that Main BIOS is the default setting. I tried to copy the Backup to the main, but still it persisted in booting from backup. Then I put Wide range protection and halt on error on, and the next time I booted, it screamed at me telling me that "MAIN BIOS IS WIDE RANGE PROTECTION ERROR!!!"(Trust Gigabyte for their outstanding English :P). I am now horribly confused, I cannot boot from main whatsoever. Main and backup have same versions (F12) so I don't think re-flashing will fix it. Contacting Gigabyte will be a waste of my time because they can hardly speak a word of English, so my first thought was to come here and ask. Have a feeling my main BIOS is corrupted or something. Any suggestions? Please don't tell me to RMA, because that's going to be a real pain in the ***. +REP for fast and helpful replies

Flash your bios again! It may be a botched flash. After reflashing go back to bios and set system defalt and boot.

But that's the thing, when I updated to F12 about a month ago, I also flashed the backup BIOS, so copying the backup to the main should be the equivalent to reflashing, right?

Ok now even on stock settings the PCIe link is still dropping... Normally it runs fine on stock. Sighs, looks like I'll have to RMA

After much hard work and determination (actually just watching an Indy Jones movie
) I found that my main BIOS has been buggered for no apparent reason. *sigh* I can boot without issue with my backup bios though. Tried reflashing but to no avail. Any suggestions on what I should do next?

Now it's working fine again. For no apparent reason, it boots up happily no issue every time. Weird.

What have you done since you reflashed, to no avail?
