Default 1156 Mobo vote and give a reason why

A)Evga P55 FTW

B)Asus Maximus Formula III

Give a reason why one is a better performer then the other (especially overclocking). I am not concerned that one may have an extra slot or extra sata connect etc, both have what I need I just don't know which to choose.

I can't find any p55 ftw vs maximus III reviews directly comparing the two which is what I was hoping to find, but o well.

I would like to hear from owners of either board, not opinions from others that are just picking because of brand.

Don't say one over the other because of 20 measly dollars

Voted for the Evga board;

1. In my experience Evga CS is far better than Asus CS
2. The Evga board doesn't use a multiplexed pwm system, and therefore has better transient response and a higher switching frequency
3. Shamino knows what he's doing? IMO he is one of the top people in this industry along side the likes of Raja and Oskar.

Check out the GD80 as well, its been getting a lot of praise as well

I have read just about every review I can find for both boards and many others.

The reviews for many boards get really high ratings or are highly liked, msi, evga, gigabyte are some of the top rated.

However, when I get to reading the Maximus III reviews the tone the reviewer uses and the things they say sound like they are jerking it while they are playing with the mobo. They talk about it by saying "the new standard has now been set" and "when you look at the bios you may feel a tingling in your trousers".

Idk about yall, but I would love to have a mobo like that.

I have the P55 ftw and it's easy to use and so far is very easy to overclock. I only bought it because of the good combo price on it and the chip I bought. Things I find strange are that the vdroop controller raises vcore when under load. I can't save a bios profile, but there is a switch on the mb for 3 or 4 different bios.

I have no experience with the Asus, so I can't comment on how it performs. I haven't tried going for a max overclock or done any benching. I don't know how high I can take the bclck. Foxhound has the same mb and claims in the 230 range.

Honestly, I doubt you can go wrong either way you choose to go.

The EVGA because you can run two cards at x16 x16 bandwidth because of some new chipset, I forgot the name. Although I'm not sure if the Maximus Formula II has the ability to do this, I'm positive the EVGA can.

That's the Evga P55 FTW 200 ($299) board, this is the $219 mobo I am referring to.

Cheapest P55 mobo with the NF200 chip is the Asus P7P55 WS SuperComputer listed at $240 on Newegg.
