Yes the circuitry was redesigned to accomidate the 45nm quads after the microcode was changed by intel. Thats why the boards were delayed a month (I know, I upgraded my 680i yto the 780i through eVGA's special step-up program offered for those who bought the A1/T1 boards. But I was not going to go into that since the nf200 chip has nothing to do with that. As for the 680i/650i board's chipset, it is the exact same NB and SB chip with the nf200 added in.

Right. That's why it looked like a great thing that 790i came along, since it eliminated the need for the nF200 and gave us a few other neat things. It was just too expensive.

After five faulty 680i motherboards, then the 780i, I jumped ship and went to the Intel X38, then X48 and never went back to NVIDIA chipsets. I never even gave the 790i a chance because of how little optimization skt 775 has with DDR3 (lack of integrated memory controller). Now I am on the x58, and it looks like NVIDIA is out of the chipset business, at least for a while.
