"Best motherboard" would be one that has all the features you're looking for with the price you're looking to pay. Before asking what the best motherboard is you should think about what you're looking to put in it.
Triple SLI? Looking for longer warranty? Extreme overclocking features? Raid features? More Ram slots? More SATA ports? While some may be quick to say there's one absolute best motherboard. I would say the best is the one with the features you will use without overspending on features you won't use.

bloodrage gets the best value award in my book
that and if you want an even cheaper board that is amazing, then look at the flamingblade. Foxconn makes some pretty awesome mobo's, especially when it comes to x58.

Im not reall intersted in triple SLI I ll prolly just be running one gpu, like a gtx 285 or gtx 295 it depends. Warranty's are nice. more ram slots> sure , sata ports>sure. and as far as RAID features. I dont have a clue what that is.

Well, I looked over at newegg a bit for a board that would most likely suit your needs without costing $500. It also looks nice and seems to have a very low rate of Dead on arrivals so it's deffinately a good choice.
I came up with the EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX X58 SLI LE Intel Motherboard I highly doubt you'd be unhappy with it, and you won't be paying $400+

I have the asus rampage 2 extreme and i love the lights on the northbridge, sound card and the back i/o plate. Even the tweaker buttons light up.
The only thing i don't like is the only 1 pci slot. And they give you a software fake pci-express card. They fixed the cold boot option with 1504. But all high end motherboards has some negative feedback/problems. I would just see what you need and choose one. DFI, EVGA, Gigabyte, Bloodrage, Asus are all great boards. Just find one for a good price and compare options. Good luck with your choice. |

Asus Rampage Extreme II is a great board, so is the Blood Rage (either GTI or NON-GTI) and so is the Classified (regardless if it's the 759 or the 760). These are probably the best overclocking boards around, although the Classified would be considered the best for extreme overclocking. Now with that said, any x58 board should be able to get you 4Ghz - 4.2Ghz out of a D0 stepping I7 920 CPU, even the Intel crap board. It will depend on the cooling you decide to go with, stock will take you up to 3.3Ghz - 3.4Ghz, good to great air cooler will take you up to 4Ghz and water cooling could get you up to 4.4Ghz. You are probably not going to notice the difference between 3.6Ghz and 4.2Ghz with daily web surfing and game play, if however you plan on doing video editing then the extra horsepower could come in handy.
Now from a warranty standpoint and tech support I would say Asus first and EVGA second. Why? Because with EVGA they charge for crossshipping, you have to register within 30 days and you have to upload your receipt. With Asus, you do not need any of that. Does registering the product make getting service easier? Sure does, but it's not required. The Asus will come with a 3 year warranty while EVGA will come with a lifetime warranty assuming it is registered within the first 30 days. If you plan on having the board longer than three years then EVGA would be the choice.
