Default I killed my Motherboard - Replacement suggestions?

Hello everyone,

Well, tonight I was a major noob and managed to destroy my MSI P35 Platinum motherboard. I was fitting my Zalman 9700 CPU cooler when my screwdriver slipped and scratched a nice half-inch gash into the PCB around the CPU socket.

When I try and boot up, it starts for about 3 seconds, then dies again - continues in an endless loop forever.

So... I need a new Socket 775 motherboard and since my P35 there have been all the fancy X38, P45, X48 motherboards etc. To be honest, I have lost a bit of touch with the in-depth motherboard market recently, so some good advice would be really appreciated.

My requirements are:

1. Budget of £60 maximum. Unfortunately, cannot really go higher.

2. Must have good overclocking features. I want to be able to do 3.6Ghz without too much of an issue.

3. Obviously support all my current hardware, ie. 65nm Intel E6850 CPU, 8800GT, at least one or two PCI slots for Sound Card and 4 x 1GB OCZ PC2-6400 Memory.

Ideally I would be happy to go with an Intel chipset rather than nForce. Mainly due to cost reasons anyways, as the nForce stuff generally seems more expensive.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

What the deal with the P43 boards? Are they any good? Are they overly crippled compared to the P45?

Not overly, they support a native 1600 FSB (Some of them do, at least) but for your budget, you should actually be able to find a board.

I would sell you mine if I wasn't getting a new 775 CPU soon.

Gigabyte EP43-DS3 - £57 that's a decent choice, but there should be some better deals about.

Edit: MSI Neo P45 - £42(ish) that's an awesome deal.
