Ok I have a Core 2 Duo E6750
4GB HyperX ddr2 1066 ram Asus P5K-E mobo and GTX 295 Asus 750W PSU Last week the problems gettin worse. doesn't boot up, repetitive reboots in the BIOS screen even before loading windows, sometimes goes to windows an then sudden shutdown. Today it got worse. when i start up system would keep rebooting continously in the BIOS screen. I think mobo is dying? are these symptons of a dyin mobo? |

I had this same issue and it turned out to be a grounding issue. Clean your case out and if it still happens, try a bench setup with only the necessary objects (1HDD, 1 vid card, 1 stick of memory, etc). That should eliminate all the variables.

If you got a shock from the case in bare feet make sure it is plugged into a grounded three pin socket it definitely sounds like the case is floating at a potential and not grounded through the power cable. Bassplayer is talking about the motherboard shorting to the case ground maybe by an errant standoff causing a short circuit between the motherboard to ground which will cause it to reboot continuously. But if you get a shock when you touch it then it isnt grounded through the ground wire in the power cord which is dangerous and can be lethal.

Yeah, I'd definitely try a bench top test of that board. Demount it, put it on a wooden desk or bench and fire it up on that. If you need a power switch just carefully touch your metal screwdriver to the power switch terminals briefly where the front-panel connector would go. (I have actually used this trick to get a motherboard to start up outside of a case
)

Iam thinkin maybe mobo or VGA. which could it be> unfortunately i dont have another VGA to test it with. when the rebbots happen everything shuts down even the inside fans which are connected directly to the PSU. I suppose if the VGA was the problem only the display would go off woudn't it?? |
