I just got a new MoBo with the intention of overclocking it. I'm having trouble with some of the options so I was hoping someone could help me out.

I suggest we start by setting up BIOS for stable operation @ stock speed. Once we get your system stable @ stock speed and manual BIOS settings, we can get to the targeted 3.2 GHz and make sure it is still stable.
Let's start by pointing you to the software you will use for stability testing:
Once you have the software, please do the following:
Once you provide this info, I will help you stress test & find your configuration for 3.0 GHz stable operation

welcome to OCN! You should go to user cp> add system and fill out your system specs. it will help us help you. ;-)
your best bet is to search for one of the wonderful guides that are on this site for your processor. there is a search box at the top of the page. read lots then try your hand at OCing then if you have specific questions make a thread asking. :-) good luck

Everything is [AUTO] right now in my BIOS. I have been running video rendering for a week straight 24 hours a day with no issues so I'm going to say it's stable. I would love to OC this to 3.2Ghz. I've got the Q6600 SCALR G0 which I've read is really good at overclocking. I appreciate you helping. Thanks much. PS: I filled out my pc info on OCN. The one I'm trying to OC is my Video Converter PC. The other quad is OCd to 3.0Ghz already. I am curious about your cpu fan speed.
It seems to be running at fixed speed.. Is it connected to the motherboard's PWM controller? Or maybe it is a fixed speed model? Which Thermaltake cooler is it?

Ok, first thing is then to setup your rig at stock speed but with manual settings.
The settings I am suggesting here are based on the manual I downloaded from Asus site. If what you have is different, please post pictures of all your available BIOS options, so I can suggest each setting. So, this is what I suggest you setup for test 1: - FSB: 266 - CPU Speed 2.4 GHz - PCI Express speed: 100 - DRAM Frequency: 800 - Memory Voltage: 1.80 V - NB Voltage: 1.125 V - SB Voltage: Auto - CPU Vtt: 1.20 V - CPU Overvoltage: AUTO - AUTO PSI: AUTO Leave the rest in auto and do the following: - Post Cpu-z & HWMonitor screenshots just as you did (idle) - Memtest86+ --> 2 complete passes (tests 0 - - Prime95 --> small FFT 2 hours - Prime95 blenc 6 hours - OCCT 2h test (large memory) - OCCT 15 min test (Linpack test) Please also capture cpu-z (cpu tab) & HWMonitor during load on all these 4 stress tests. The idea is to make sure our base settings are stable before pumping speed up. As our limit is most likely to be cpu temperature, we will also evaluate how good our cooling is. Good Luck!

I hate wires so I'm always tying them up. Plus I'm always in fear that one of the wires will get caught in a fan.
