I am looking to build a new Pro Audio computer! My old 1.6Ghz Dual Core computer is starting to be too slow for my needs.
I have an E7500, and was looking at a UD3R as a nice solid board to be the basis for my new DAW. Questions are: 1- Is this mobo a very good long term board. Obviously I won't be doing much overclocking, as stability and never having problems are the goal. I backup my work, but if my computer were to go down, i would lose hundreds of dollars a day. 2- Does this board do well with the stock cooling solution? The case has a front 120mm fan and 2 80's in the rear, as well as an 80mm blowing directly onto the ram. It moves air, but during recording, it will be at near 100% duty cycle, moving huge amounts of data around, and I want to make sure the passive NB cooling will be enough. 3- I know this board is a good overclocker, but are there any things its particularly bad at? Thanks for the insight!

1. Yes, this board is a very solid board and I have yet to see any of the boards that are based on it have issues (the UD3R, UD3P and UD3 extreme). All of these boards are great and VERY well known in any overclocking community. 2. The stock cool is excellent. I have yet to have any issues with mine (and I am running a quad!). 3. There are really no problems with it till you start getting to about 1.6v, then it jumps everywhere. 1.62v gives you 1.65v!!!!! Also the board seems to have bad vdroop. But unless you are an extreme overclocker, I wouldn't even worry about it. your situation is not very unique BTW. Unless your running around with RAID, if your board gives out (which I highly doubt it would) you could just pop in a new one as they are readily available.

My wifes rig is running the ma790x ud4p within the gigabyte family and its such a solid board that i find myself on it more than my own rigs. I highly doubt you'll encounter any problems with your selection as i never hear any bad stories about it, unless they are doing some extream overclocking so i'd say your good to go!

I've been running this board for about 10 months now. I love it. My one qualm with it is S3 Sleep mode does not work with an overclock. I have long since forgotten about this problem as I have just worked around it, but if you're going to OC and you need sleep mode, look elsewhere.
