What are your goals with your i7 OC? The DS4 doesn't have the 2 ounce copper PCB that the ultra durable boards are famous for. It also has cooling that is less efficient than the UD series. However, if you're just looking for a 4GHz 24/7 setting, it'll work well.

yeah, just a basic OC and possibly xfire in the future.. im not sure what all the other features do asides from the obvious cooler and stuff.. but i just want a 4 ghz oc when i go on a water loop. anything i would be missing out on if i get this instead of another option that i may find interesting or should consider?

I just checked Newegg.ca and I can't find anything near that price. Closest I got was the Foxconn FlamingBlade GTI for $180 CAD. I'd say grab the DS4. If it isn't what you were hoping for, sell it for a bit more and grab a different board. Gigabyte makes great stuff. I'd be surprised if you didn't like this board.

Remember that Crossfire performance will be limited a bit with this board due to only having one PCIe x16 lane. The other two are x8 slots.

i heard that 8x is more than enough because the card i have uses 2g per seg roughly and will obviously use less in xfire due to the distributed load and wont use all its power.

With a 5870, the performance at x8 was 97% across all resolutions. I'd be surprised if you didn't get 99-100% with the 5850.

awesome... i have a question for you bassplayer regarding water cooling (i play bass too
24fret ibanez xgr5)your sig rig will look similar to what i will have. my question to you is how many rads do you have in your loop and what size? i want to reach 4.3 also and eventually cool my gpu as well.. will a 240 + a 120 rad in the same loop be sufficient for both those heat sources? the reason i am wanting 2 rads is to keep my loop internal. possible or no?

I have one 360 cooling my i7 and motherboard chipset + mosfets. It's plenty.
Although... with a TJ07, can't you even fit a 480 rad in the bottom? You could probably get away with a good 240 for the CPU and a good 120 for the GPU. A good 360 would do well also. By "good" I mean RX360 or Feser XChanger or something along those lines. A rad with high fin density and high speed, high static pressure fans. 4.3GHz on water isn't very difficult at all to get as long as you have a decent block, chip, and a nice ambient temperature. If you're able to, I'd go with the 480 or 360. Also, my first bass was an Ibanez GSR200. Then I got a RockBass Corvette 5, then a Warwick Corvette 5, then my current Warwick Streamer Jazzman 5 as seen in my avatar.
