Smile UD3P+Q9400 SYS,I Can't > 3.1 GHz. Help me PLZ

Q9400 INTEL QUADCORE AND UD3P Motherboard is the system.

I don't seem able to go over 3.10-3.2 GHz overclock then it crashes or is unstable. Can someone take pity on me and help me with some step by step details? Most times people talk WAY over my head so could you use more layman terms with me?
Thanks

p.s. If I am not in the correct forum for this Question could you move it or tell where to post in the future? I don't want to break the rules.

that's about all I've done thus far.

what about the RAM frequency and voltage? if you leave that on AUTO, it'll increase with your FSB, and that might be your problem

set the RAM voltage to spec, and lower the RAM multiplier to the lowest for now

But my dram is manual, see above, set to 5-5-5-15 which isn't the auto setting for this board.

timmings are different from the voltage.......timming one ram is like make it work with the other one at overclock or high speeds and the voltage gives more power to the core of the cpu or rams so you can raise the overclock

First this Performance Enhance goes to Standard.
Robust Graphics Booster stays on Auto.

Open CPU-Z and tell us what it says the cpu voltage is right now.

Let me find the bios template and I'll come back and edit my post.

Fill this out:

Robust Graphics Booster.........................[ Auto ]
CPU Clock Ratio.................................[ ]
Fine CPU Clock Ratio............................[ 0.0 ]
CPU Frequency .GHz...........................[ ]

******Clock Chip Control******

CPU Host Clock Control..........................[ Enabled ]
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz)........................[ ]
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz).....................[ 100 ]
C.I.A 2 ..................................................[Disabled]

******DRAM Performance Control******

Performance Enhance .............................[Standard]
Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)....................[ Disabled ]
(G) MCH Frequency Latch.........................[ Auto ] <--This here
System Memory Multipler.........................[ 2.00D ] <--This
Memory Frequency 1066...........................[ 800 ] <--This
DRAM Timing Selectable..........................[ Manual ]

CAS Latency Time................................[ 5 ] <--Set all this manually
tRCD............................................[ 5 ]
tRP.............................................[ 5 ]
tRAS............................................[ 15]

*Set the RAM voltage to stock voltage for 800MHz.*

Load-Line Calibration [Enabled] <-- Decide if you want to use this
CPU Vcore [ 1.25 ]...................[ ]
CPU Termination [ 1.20 ]...................[ ]
CPU PLL [ 1.50 ]...................[ ]
CPU Reference [ 0.760 ]...................[ ]

MCH Core [1.1 ]...................[ ]
MCH Reference [0.760 ]...................[ ]
MCH/DRAM Refernce [0.900 ]...................[ ]
ICH I/O [1.500 ]...................[ Auto ] <-- Leave these alone
ICH Core [1.100 ]...................[ Auto ]

Also, for now, while you overclock, go in and disable all of the bios throttling features.
Limit CPUID Max [Disabled]
CPU Enhanced Halt [Disabled]
C2/C2E State Support [Disabled]
C4/C4E State [Disabled]
CPU Thermal Monitor [Disabled]
CPU EIST Function [Disabled]
Virtualization [Disabled]

*Note, the Reason to run your RAM at stock speeds/timings is to keep them out of the troubleshooting loop while you oc the cpu...you can raise the speed later.
