Default Need some advice please, Either CPU or Motherboard going..

Hey folks. I have a small issue that I need a little bit of advice/help on.

Over the last couple months I've been having issues or random lockups with an occasional blue screen. After some testing I have ruled out my memory, I ran Memtest with each stick for many hours with no errors. Moving on from there I then returned my cpu freq and fsb and memory to stock settings. Here and there I still get lock ups, as in freeze with no blue screen for the most part.

Last night I got my first blue screen in awhile and it was usbdevice issue, which sounds like it would be a memory related blue screen, but as I said I've tested both sticks and can nearly guarantee it's not them causing the issue.

So, I guess my question is, without access to another motherboard or cpu, what would be the best way to determine if it's my cpu or my board? All my specs are in my sig. One route available to me is I have pre-paid for a crossship replacement motherboard from evga the moment I originally got the board.. but I don't want to go that route unless it's my only option.

Currently cpu is stock with auto volts, memory is 7-7-7-20 1600mhz at 1.85v and everything else is pretty much auto. Never had an issue up until a few months ago.

Suggestions?

One thing you could try is either updating your video drivers or try using older video drivers for the screen freeze. Also try updating all of your drivers.

Try stressing the CPU and see if you can re-create the BSOD (OCCT, Prime95, etc)

i would back it down to stock/vid and if it happens then i would say mobo, if not cpu.

not sure wether it will affect you but i recall reading that your board had an issue with qa for a few batches and there was plastic under the heatsink stoping it making full contact with the chipset ic, could it be this making your board overheat and causing the issue?

I'll try that asap.

Atm, everything is stock.. I guess except the memory cause the board is 1333 and memory is 1600. I dunno about the plastic but I cannot really check unless I break down my pc, but I don't believe heat is an issue, as it never was before, I've had the 790I since it came out about two years ago or so.

So I've installed the most recent nvidia drivers, 195.xx from 191.xx but I cannot say if it's any improvement yet, I guess I'll have to wait till I do some gaming to see if I get any lockups, though most of the time I get hardlocks is doing other things.

I've also been running Prime95 small FFTs for the cpu test and so far it's going well, been about 30 minutes so far.

I dunno if this is related to anything, I'm sure it is, but I forgot to mention within seconds of doing a full screen embedded video or full screen with WMP my pc does a lockup, this has been an issue for quite awhile, while I had Vista and still with Win 7.

I'll let prime run a little longer, then I'll blend again just to be sure.

Intelburn test is better than p95 isn't it? I heard it does in a few minutes what p95 takes hours to do.

Well, after running p95 small ffts for awhile and satisfied nothing came up, I decided to switch it over the Blend, which failed after a few minutes..

I ran Memtest for about 4 hours or so per single stick and with both and no errors, but Prime95 Blend is now giving me an error relatively early. I dropped all my clocks a couple weeks ago and Blend was fine..

Now what?
