Default Asus P4P800 SE Question about Memory...

Hi,
I have an Asus p4p800 se motherboard. I was reading the manual to view the QVL of ddr400 memory makers. I tried looking for them and found that it is almost impossible. Can anyone who might have this same board suggest some memory that works as ddr400 that may not be on the list and is easier to get?

Also, I was curious on just how this works. The manual to me is somewhat confusing. ddr400 memory will only run that high if I have an 800FSB processor? Does filling all the dimm slots help with speed or is it better to only have 2 filled for dual channel?

Can someone also give me an idea of good settings for the bios to speed up preformance?

One last thing. I heard this board has the ability to talk to you when there is errors. That is actually speaks over the speakers inside of beeps, is this true?
thanks,
Mike

Lightbulb here you go

http://www.crucial.com/store/listpar...P800&submit=Go
this is all the memory that can be acomodated too fit in your mobo, and please note as too your other question, it is better too have only the first two dimms filled with a higher memory than too have all four filled with a lower memory
4x512mb= good
2x1024mb= Better

And here's a list of Corsair for you;

Corsair Memory

Here's a good choice,

CORSAIR XMS 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 CMX1024-3200C2PT

or a little cheaper;

CORSAIR XMS 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 CMX1024-3200C2

The truth is, ASUS is one of the best motherboard manufacturers out there, and pretty much any non-noname RAM will work.

Just as a pointer, if you are serious about overclocking your system dont buy anything which is marketed as "value" 9/10 times it wont make the grade

Get some good quality RAM your pc will love you for it

As MjrTom pointed out, if you want to get your maximum OC you will want to stay away from any 'Value' branded ram, from any company.

As for the question about 512 only, I have never heard of that, and I did check, you board has 4 DIMM's and can handle a total of 4GB, which logically reaffirms to me, that it certainly can handle 1GB sticks, and more than likely, 2x2GB sticks if you wanted to spend that much.

I understand being on a budget, trust me, but sometimes you have to make your decision. Would it be better to save money now and buy Value RAM that most likely will hinder your OC, or wait a little bit and buy better quality when you have some more money. Afterall, you aren't saving anything if you buy value and then have to throw it away and buy higher quality later anyway.
