Default Asus P4v8x-mx

im in the market for a new motherboard for a 2.53ghz p4 northwood processor and i was wondering if i could get an ok overclock with this motherboard (prolly a dumb question since i have never heard of a asus that couldnt) and also if this motherboard is even compatable with my processor and also im prolly upgrading to a 3.0 prescott soon that im gettin from a friend so i need it to run with that too. mainly just need to know if my northy is supported.

It supports that processor without a problem.
For the OCing on that board, your not getting anywhere, due to the VIA chipset, and yes I can give you a nice long list of Asus boards that won't OC. Your going to have one heck of a time finding a micro-ATX board that will OC.

hmmm alright well then i guess ill be good with that for now since its not really expensive or anything and yea i would get a different form factor but i have a micro atx case with liquid cooling built into it so im kinda stuck on that part.... liquid cooling was free so wut the heck lol

The P5LD2-VM is a micro board that OCs pretty well. Uses the 945 chipset, has most of the options you'll need, CPU voltage, FSB, RAM timings and speed and RAM voltage IIRC.

I got 3.2 out of a 511 (2.8/1mb/533) without hardly any work. With a video card instead of onboard video, and a slightly better CPU, probably could have gotten more.

Of course, it's more expensive.
