I was looking into gaming laptops and found some decent ones on alienware and hypersonic (dell is too much for my possible budget)
any idea on when the dx10s for laptops will come out? If I got a brand new laptop now I wouldn't want to see the next series come out next week.

Gamming lappys? Not really something to invest in. Yeah playing fear on your lap in the middle of class is cool and all but heat is a huge issue. Then there is the fact they cost an arm and a leg. I don't see dx10 cards for lappys for a very long time

Don't think DX10 is coming to a budget laptop anytime soon. But as for upgrades, there is gonna be add on graphics card for the laptops soon, through the expresscard slot. Asus is supposed to be coming out with a version of this soon, and is said to ship with a 7900GS.

I cant believe you paid for a Sony Vaio... Sony over charges too much on evrything they sell. This is the notebook I'm getting http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220107. The price is pretty fair for the specs IMO. As for DX10 notebooks, I believe its coming out at the same time as Windows Vista. http://www.proportable.com/images/as.../vx2/index.htm But If I were you I would wait until way later when they actually start making games that are meant for DX10 b/c once they do, I'm sure if you purchase a DX10 notebook right now, it wont be able to keep up with future games. You have to consider the fact that DX10 hardware just came out, so just wait until they make better DX10 cards. I'm going to stick with the Asus notebook for maybe a year or two until they come out with better DX10 cards for notebooks.

As for heat, mine runs alot cooler than my old AMD XP cpu in my old gaming rig in the basement (just like you're running)... I've heard others aren't so good about heat management. Price, limited upgradability, and very top end performance are the only sacrifice. But a score of 10633 (3DMark05) & 5846 (3dMark06) is hardly a gaming dog.
