I just bought a 9100 and so want to do this, in fact this guy gets a 3dmark 05 score of 5200 in which which the 9400 I returned to dell that had core duo and a 7800 go only got 3800 so this is extremely impressive.
http://www.notebookforums.com/thread121549.html so I definately will try to find a 9800 and get rid of the preshot and put in a good norty or hopefully gallitan if cheap enough.

Interesting, so is there anyway to know if you can unlock it before ordering? any suggestions on where I might be able to find one if I was interested in trying this?

What do you mean about unlocking it? I just plugged mine in and it worked... no need to unlock anything as far as I know.
Places to find it... ebay? Though I haven't seen one recently. Do a google search for 9800 Mobility, and you'll find the right card. Whether you can find one for sale though, that's the challenging part. I think you can buy them directly from dell, if they still support that laptop/parts.

I was referencing the link provided where it said it could be unlocked to 16 pipelines. Basicly I could just order the card from dell and hope to get one made before week 40? would dell still have those, or would I need to look into after market sales?

Ah, I didn't realize that you needed to unlock the other 8 pipelines. I would check from someplace other than Dell if you're looking for an older week. Most likely, if they have any they'll be the latest weeks.

Yep, that's about what I thought. I guess I should check ebay, or use dell, and just RMA....
