Since you'll be getting an extra li-ion battery, thought u'd like to know something about them here- 3 Things You Should Already Know About Your Lithium Ion Battery

Hope this helps!

The Vostros are great laptops. We can't buy them on our standing purchase order at the City, and most of IT is pretty mad about that.

Having said that, you can get a Dell 430 for the amount you want to spend. If mobility is a must for you, this 12.1" 3lbs beauty would be my pick. My best friend's wife has one and she loves the hell out of it:

http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/latit_d430?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&~tab=bundlestab

The laptop will not be as powerful as the Vostro, but I use one at work, and since I have to lug it around with me everywhere I go the fact that it weighs next-to-nothing is a HUGE plus.

I would buy this one Simply because its not a Dell...

iBUYPOWER CRZ-99 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7700(2.40GHz) 17.0" Wide SXGA+ 2GB DDR2 667 160GB DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834227035

Price - $1644.99

Specs:
Graphics
GPU/VPU NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Video Memory Dedicated 512MB
Graphic Type Dedicated Card
CPU
CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo
CPU Speed T7700(2.40GHz)
CPU FSB 800MHz
CPU L2 Cache 4MB
Memory
Memory Speed DDR2 667
Memory Size 2GB

The video card is a Dedicated 8600M like the dell, But it has 512mb of VRAM instead of 256 like the dell and other mentioned laptops... You'll need the 512MB of dedicated VRAM if you want to play on the screens native resolution, 1680x1050

Lol, it comes with a carrying case and a T-Shirt too
