Anything I can do without? I am kind of 50/50 on the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio ExpressCard. The 160GB hard drive is a bit on the small side for me. I can get a larger hard drive for less money but I have to switch from 7,200rpm to 5,400rpm, so idk.

Yeah, I'm impressed with dell's business line. Way cheaper and better IMHO.
I don't think Hp has a 17incher that compete with dell

EDIT:
You can get a dv9500t setup with the 8600 gs and dual 120s for $1349.
the dell is still better

Well I just did the Dell configure thing on the Vostro 1500 and this is what I came up with:

$1,446

It has a bigger 7,200rpm hard drive (200gb), and it comes with 2gb of ram (so I won't have to buy that elsewere).

I did find a good coupon on the Inspiron's $300 off, which put the Inspiron 1520 at almost exactly the same price as the Vostro. Except the Inspiron would have to have the 160GB 7,200rpm HD and I would have to purchase the 2gb of ram elseware (2gb dell upgrade is a rip off).

The Vostro doesn't give any details on the resolution of the monitor, the one I chose is the best one they offer (it would be nice to know what it is though).

I was really hoping I could find some kind of coupon for the Vostro's, but I can't seem to find any. If anyone has any coupon code for the Vostro please tell me!

I am not really sure if I really need a 17" monitor, I feel like a larger moniter would kill my battery life (I am not sure of that though). I havn't used a 15" monitor for a long time though so I can't really think of what it would be like (my desktop pc has a 22" monitor, for reference). A larger monitor would be nice though.

Well what do you guys think, is that just about the best deal I can get?

No doubt. That Vostro should do you lots of a good for a long time. I'd say buy it. That thing should game well, and good call on the 2nd battery... having a "gaming" lappy eats batteries bad.. my E1705 with 7900GS has 4hr battery life lol...

yeah looks like I will be picking one up this week. I had to get an extra battery after hearing that this laptop only lasts about 3 hours when gaming or watching a movie. Originally I was going to pick one up somewere else thinking it would be less expensive, but apperently dell sells em' the cheapest. I think the only other thing I will need for it is a nice carrying case, and maybe pick up that remote for it to.
