I'm looking to buy a used lap top that can play a few games here and there. I'm not sure which lap top would be better. They both are around the same price range.

I have a 1400...so a bit biased.
BUT The Vostro is solidly built, has a great keyboard, is slick looking, and is just overall a great machine. Everex is not the most high quality notebook maker, and personally, I would go with the smaller screen for portability and battery life. I bought my Vostro 1400 'refurbished', and it came in perfect condition, and I have had no problems with it at all.

Vostro hands down.
Make sure to google for a coupon before you buy it, Dell has them out on a weekly basis. You want a 8600M GT or 7900Go at the least. Anything less is disappointing. Don't worry about RAM at all, you can buy 2gb sticks for $35-40 on Newegg.

The everex has a much better video card, but you cant deny the build quality of the dell. i would go with the dell because of the better build quality and because its a much more trusted/well known brand. Plus theres always a nice coupon out here or there as Mootsfox proclaimed.

The Everex has an AMD CPU which is kind of :/
The Dell can take Penryns on the other hand.

I'd say the Vostro, although I just ordered one
The Vostro is made of a Magnesium-alloy as apposed to regular plastic. Its one of the main reasons I chose it over any other laptop.Too bad you missed the 500 off coupon that just ended, best deal I've ever seen on them.

I currently use the everex which is IMO a nice laptop, it's a budget laptop and cheaper than the vostro by about $300 I think, I can game on it aswell as use it for CAD, not to mention you also get a 17" screen - The keyboard may be a bit funky, but nothing you don't get used to in 10 minutes.
__________________Another nice thing about the everex is that it's so easy to upgrade.
