Default Overclocking laptop??

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 and I was sitting around thinking "I wonder if you can overclock laptops." So....can you? Is it worth it? Could I OC my AMD Turion 64 X2 or my ATI X1200 and get noticeable performance increases? Is it safe? I've never overclocked before...

You typically can't overclock a "pre-built" computer, like a laptop, although there is some software that you can attempt. ClockGen is one software. You should be able to OC your GPU and get a little performance increase using ATITool!!

Be sure to download CPU-Z to check speeds and SpeedFan to keep an eye on temps!

It is not recommended to overclock a laptop. At stock they can barely get rid of the heat.

I dont reccomend Overclocking a laptop. Due to the design nature of a laptop, airflow is already VERY poor anyway. Overclocking would only serve to increase the temps within your laptop which could lead to system instability and damage. Overall I do not reccomend it.

I have had my Vostro OCed for 6 months now just fine with no problems. Just watch those temps and use a cooling pad for "stationed gaming"...

False, Its just as dangerous as OCing a Desktop. Watch for temps and Artifacts... I run 24/7 OC on my GPU in my Vostro from 475 stock to 730 OCed and I havent had ANY problems at all.
