Hey guys, so I'll be going to university in september for computer programming. So I'm going to need a bit of a hefty laptop.
I was considering getting a Dell, but i also saw this one at futureshop... http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0101476&catid= I need the laptop for numerous languages of programming, will be touching into a bit of graphics and videos, and would also like to be able to play some games on it. Is that futureshop laptop a pretty decent way to go? I'd like to go dell, but i also don't wana have to order it online, not a fan of that for some reason. Any input would be appreciated.

Check out the Dell Vostro line. I do most of my programming on my 1400.

Dell Latitude D630, or one of the other latitude laptops, look it up, they are very nice and quite cheap.
Go to Bestbuy, they might allow you to select it an customize it, then pick it up at a later date. For the D630, it has a low end quadro card, 2 gigs of RAM, and a 2.2 ghz CPU for around $1,000.

LG isn't really a big name in the laptop market. Go with Toshiba or HP. I'm typing on a Sony Vaio, which I have no problems with, but you usually spend more for similar specs (The Sony Tax).

Why do you need a hefty laptop? Generally, college coding isn't all that intensive.
From my experience, I would get a netbook and a workstation desktop. You can remote connect to your desktop and run code from there.

i don't need super hefty. But As I said, if I am dropping the money for a laptop, i'd like to be able to have some 'light' gaming, and no problem with multi-tasking.
