If they already took payment they have to either give you the goods purchased or the amount paid to them. And any business in the US has the right to deny services to any party for any reason essentially, even if it is a bs excuse.

But the situation here is a bit odd as since they took payment 3 weeks ago and I'm sure what you said wasn't slander, heck I would call the Better Business Bureau if I were you. You should have had teh services/item by now unless something tragic happened on their part, or it was a backstock item you knew about.

After talking with them for a bit they decided to ship it. I sent then an email saying it was a misunderstanding.

It's all good now. Still kinda annoys me that they did that :\

Report the company on Resellratings to give them bad PR. But the company has the right to refuse service to anyone, so you are out of luck.

I would also write a letter to the company if you feel strongly about it. Hopefully you will strike a cord with the right person and maybe even gain something out of this.

Its not against the law and its not a violation of any right. Individual private parties make agreements and trade on terms they both believe they benefit from.

By speaking negatively about them, this company no longer feels it benefits from the trade agreement. They should give you your money back but there should be no reason for them to have to sell the laptop for you.

Freedom of speech means that someone cannot force you to say or not say what they think is appropriate.

In legal terms freedom of speech means without penalty. So, this company that remains nameless

would be violating that freedom in this respect.

More importantly if they do not state anything in their terms of sale about badmouthing their product then you still have the rights to a refund, pending what their policy is of course.

If they recieved payment they cannot deny services like refunding you.
