Can a company do this???
I had some problems with a retailer and my laptop was going to the shipment stage of their process.
I wrote a report of it on resellerratings.com I then get a call saying that they are canceling my order and not giving me the laptop I ordered because I wrote a bad review of them. Isn't that against the law??

I don't think there's any law against it, but it's just bad PR to them. They did give you the money back right?

If they did something bad, and I say it. I shouldn't get penalized for it.

I dont know about US law but UK law states:
__________________Unless payment has been taken no contract is entered into and they dont have to send/ship anything. If you were having problems with them maybe it was for the best? Good luck anyway! Mike

Well i'm trying to talk to them and not get my order canceled. So far, no money back.
And the money left my checking account 3 weeks ago when I ordered it.

Nothing to do with free speech. They did not trample your free speech rights, just reacted negatively to it.
I would most definitely write them a letter and see how they respond. If they could care less, post the email on the review site. I think the US law is the same. If they did not charge your card (or whatever payment) then there was no contract. Sucks that they do this though and they should get as much bad press as you can give them. EDIT: saw that they took your money. They are in breach of contract then. Where is the company located? Call your local newspaper/tv and ask for the action line, they usually have someone there to dig into these kinds of issues. You can also call the Better business bureau to ask them about this.
