I was wondering if it's possible to change the processor on any newer generation laptop. Just wanting to make sure I can upgrade the processor in case I pick up a laptop. The processor in the lappy i'm looking at is pretty low, it only comes with a 2.0ghz.

I don't think so. If so, it would involve some serious skillz. Who knows
EDIT: I actually don't even know where you would buy a processor for a laptop. I'm sure they are around somewhere. hmmm curiosity strikes me...

If you check on newegg, there is a whole sub section of the cpu category called "mobile processors". There are a ton of different ones for sale there. I know it can be done, but was wondering if it's fairly standard on newer C2D notebooks to be able to swap them out or upgrade.

it would depend on the socket of that laptop itself. I know on my laptop (dell e1505 w/ socket 479 mPGA) i can go from a core duo to a core2 (with the same socket) But it would also depend on if the BIOS of the laptop supported it.

yeah on my laptop, there are a variety of different processors that are compatible. there are many guides for different laptops to replace and upgrade parts if necessary.
