Default Should I go back to vista on my laptop?

First off it came with vista basic from dell, and it was pre-sp1 and it was terrible. About 70% of my older games wouldn't load, or wouldn't run if they would load. I had constant crashes, wierd glitches on my newer games and it was as slow as they get. Now I realize sp1 fixed a lot of those issues, and am even using 64bit. Well I have a copy of 32bit, ultimate edition and was thinking of giving it another go.

Here are laptop specs:
Dell Vostro 1700
1.6ghz C2D
2GB 667mhz
8600M GT
160GB 5400rpm HDD
17 inch lcd

So worth another shot or not?

Most people only see a benefit from vista when they have more than 2gb's of ram and a faster CPu. Vista is dog slow on my sig rig at stock clocks. overall i see no reason to go vista. other than "Halo 2 vista"

Ultimate might be a little much for that laptop, not sure. I would just stick with XP and get some crazy Visual Styles from deviantart.com

I could care less about the visual styles, its just my laptop is coming up on a reload and didn't know whether I should switch back.

You should buy the 64 bit disc for your copy (I think its $10 off of microsoft) and install Vista 64 bit Ultimate.
