Default help picking out a laptop for around $800

I need a little help picking out a laptop, it is for a friend of mine, he is lookign to spend around $800 USD.

he's after some thing decent. to be used for internet, web design, photo editing, music (recording a signal from his mixer as well) and all the other piddly things people do but over look when buying a computer.

I should point out he is switching from a Imac, and wants to try new things.

thanks for all the help.

I got mine from www.abs.com

And for some reason they don't have gaming laptops on their site anymore :/

May want to email them - they may do some sort of price quote.

It looks kind of good for 650$, but the graphics card looks kind of weird. I think it said nearly 2GB of memory for the graphics... Says it also has 4GB of RAM upgradable to 8GB. That's good for those editing programs and etc. Seems good for the things your friend wants to do, but don't quote me on it. Maybe google laptops and photo editing as a search. Not sure about the music/mixer thing.

Haha, love that picture. If you watch Doctor Who you would know what I mean.

besy buy goofed up the description of the graphics chip it is a GMA4500MHD
the mixer thing, he pre-mixes ever thing so basically he is using the computer as a digital tape recorder. it just need to record audio as it will all be mixed and processed externally and not by the computer.

it says up to 1759 mb of video memory, I would imagine you can set it yourself. "Up to 1759MB total available" from BB's site

who hasn't seen Doctor Who, honestly. it has been around a long time. always enjoyable.

look in the 'for sale' section of OCN. there's always somebody selling his laptop for dirt cheap. i almost bought one a few times, but i already have one, so i resisted.
