There are a few guides around the internet on installing OSX on the MSI Wind netbook, but among these guides there is a lot of conflicting and confusing information. This is my attempt at presenting the process as simply as possible while providing links and other resources to aid you if needed.
After doing this for my brothers Wind, this is the most direct method possible. For a dated but somewhat more detailed guide click here First off what you'll need to install OSX on your wind: - MSI Wind Netbook - External USB DVD drive - Windows XP bootable CD - MSIwindosx86 iso disk image (google it) - The official OSX 10.5.4 delta upgrade here (Do not use the other combo package) - Realtek wireless driver/utility (forum link/direct rapid share link) - fixed intel 950 GFX drivers for correct 1024x600 resolution (Attached, extract the .pkg file and run it) Second, what you SHOULD have to install OSX on your Wind: - A properly licensed copy of OSX Leopard Installing OSX on your wind without a license is the same as if you did it with a copy of windows: piracy. Do the right thing. Since realtek released their wireless driver everything now works on the MSI wind. I haven't had hardly any time with it besides the initial setup, but I will add any other fixes and such after christmas when i can get more play time. Quote:
Now, let's get started. 1. back up anything you might need in windows because you will be completely reformatting the harddrive 2. Set up the external DVD drive, plug it into the wind, and turn it on. Press "F11" for the boot menu to pop up. Select your DVD drive and push enter after you put your Windows XP CD in. 3. For somereason OSX would not boot on its own unless i installed while the HDD had a GUID partion table.. So go into the windows install wizard until you get to the part where you select what partition to install. On the HDD you will be installing on, delete all the partitions so all it says is "Unpartitioned space" 4. Restart the computer and boot from the custom MSI wind OSX DVD you have, making sure to press a key when prompted by darwin/x86. This takes a while to start up and get into the actual install wizard, so unless you love decoding syntax, go do something productive for a few minutes. 5. When it finally boots, select your language and hit enter. 6. At the top of the screen click the "Utilities" tab and then select "Disk Utility." 7. When the Disk utility opens, click the partition tab on the right 8. Under "Volume Scheme" click '1 Partition' in the drop down menu 9. On the right, make sure you're formatting as ".. Extended (Journaled)," give the partition a name, and click "apply" 10. Exit the disk utility 11. Continue the installation as normal, selecting the partition you just created. This specific OSX86 is tailored to the MSI Wind so you do not need to customize the install settings. (Optional) When it finally starts installing OSX it will check your DVD for consistency. I don't know if my USB controller couldn't take it or something but it would always give me an error that it couldn't read the disk after about 20%. If this happens to you to, simply click the 'skip' button on that window. 12. The Installation takes a while to actually start copying the files (it's not frozen) so after you did or didnt skip the dvd check, sit tight for about an hour. 13. If all went well, you should see OSX boot up and greet you with the flashy Apple welcome video, as well as a quick setup. 14. When you arrive at the desktop, stick in the dvd/USB stick/external HDD you put the above files on, and copy them to your desktop for easy access. 15. Install the OSX 10.5.4 update (will restart) 16. Run the intel 950 package to fix the screen resolution to display 1024x600. *Restart* 17. Run the installer for the realtek wireless card. *restart* 18. Anything else that doesn't work (ethernet for example) Visit "Paul's" Thread on the subject where he posted a driver zip for download in the second post. Now you have fully functional OSX running on your MSI Wind Netbook. PM me with any questions or problems you may encounter and i will assist you to the best of my ability ![]() ~Higgins

Are you able to install those OSX updates like a normal mac (albeit from a CD/flashdrive, I guess), or is there more trickery involved in getting each of them working?

Well I hope Apple loses. I have disagreed with that restriction which I only learned of 1 1/2 years ago. And very seriously to you or anyone who can do congrats on making it work.
