So my friend has this laptop and its acting up.
1. It refuses to shutdown. If the battery is in..the laptop is on. Holding the button just causes it to flash and stay on. 2. No VIDEO, obviously this is the bigger problem as it renders the laptop useless. It does use SLI with two 7900 GS. Ive tried both in and out and still same issues. I dont know what else to do, ive check the processor and it seems fine. hmmmmmmmmmmmm any help?

It's got to be an issue with either the switch, or the connection to the motherboard from the switch. Either way, it's going to have to be taken apart most likely to troubleshoot further. I'm doubting that the warranty is still valid since it's an Aurora?
On second read of your post...are you saying that the video never works? Or that it stops working?

No video? Won't shutdown? Sounds bad, will video display on external? The symptoms are not giving me a good guess on the problem.

Being a notebook guy only and having less options I am not so up on much terminology. That said removing the CMOS battery forces defaults to reset when put back in. Is that what you were looking for?
__________________Back to things I am not an expert on. If it was not set up for external would plugging in do nothing as happened to you? I hoped if you could get external going would indicate GPU not fried. Would allow you to change some settings. In particular things like. What happens when you close lid? If you set to shutdown and does not goes deeper than bad power button. The lack of video gets me thinking GPU, the inability to shutdown makes me think MoBo? I really go toward MoBo at this point. Sadly MoBo issues require replacement in most situations. Notebook MoBo's are expensive as no options like desktops have stuck with original version only. Good luck the problem is beyond my expertise.
