I noticed that the Asus came with only a 32 bit operating system.
What about this one?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115540

you should check your college for offers, where i live anyway if you require a laptop etc the school either has links with dell or others or provides partial grants so it wont cost you an arm and a leg.

Absolutely not. First of all, it will likely get maybe 2 hours of battery life on a good day.

Most importantly though: 1280x800 screen. such a low resolution is a nightmare for visual design, you might not even get the UI to display properly.

The Asus is the best price /performance of all linked by a very large margin.

Edit: Vista 64 is like what $30 to upgrade? Listed somewhere on OCN.

nathris has a good point on resolution.

Try customizing a dell studio, that seem for your best bet, if you can't get it at a price you need it at, try the acer. Good luck!

I'd suggest getting a MAC if your syllabus suggests it.
If you ever need help doing something, chances are, you're going to have to solve the problem yourself rather than your professor.

The mac Refurb store is a great place to shop around since it is official mac but a Way lower prices.
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...ls/mac/macbook

Some of the notebooks linked previously beat it spec to spec to price but just to be safe, I'd get a mac book.

Edit: looking back at my post, I can't believe i'm actually recommending a mac to someone
