Default overclocked Eee 1000HE netbook

I finally got around to playing and trying to overclock my little 1000HE and managed to do a little bit.

To do this I had to use EeeCTL which is made for the 270 processor. Well the 1000HE is the 280. So I had to go in and change the values to get it to go a bit higher.

Here is a good place for learning how to do it http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=54015&p=1

I think I am just going to stick with the asus overclock feature though. I just wanted to see if I could do it.

Awesome! Can you tell a difference between the speeds of stock 1.6 and 1.9? Also how is the heat/battery life affected by this? I saw somewhere that the N10J gets OC'ed normally at around 2-2.1Ghz, do you think any Atom CPU can pull that off?

I only had it overclocked long enough to make sure it was stable. As far as heat goes I didnt notice a huge change if any at all, seemed like the stock fan doesn't have a problem with cooling. I didn't unplug it for battery life to come up I am sure it would change some but I don't think it would be that big. There is a picture on another forum where the OCer lost about 20min of battery life (going off the battery meter, wasn't actually tested). Also, there are some people who have hit 2.0Ghz on this machine along with other 1000h models. I did run superpi and noticed a 10 second difference. It took a 1min 30seconds to do 1M at stock speeds and 1min 20sec at 1.9Ghz.

The most comon way it seems is to overclock via using a program called SetFSB. If you are going this route make sure to set the Clock Generator to ICS9LPR427AGLF
