i caint say i rememer but it had an option in it for virus or spyware an they was under that.

It looks like the problem you are experiencing is known as "KSOD" or "Black Screen of Death".

Microsoft says here that the problem was resolved in SP1 (I don't think so)

Here, you can find a fix that has worked for many people.

In my case, it did not work so I had to recover from a full backup.
