Hi, I have a old Packard Bell F5 280HR, Every time it boots I get a red screen, the splash screen I mean.
XP still showing up on the splash screen ect, when It gets in to windows everythings fine. Im thinking the motherboard is on route out.... the graphics on the motherboard I mean, thing it Im unsure of what else I can test to find out. Could it be the inverter? What else could It be? Its never been powerful enough to run games ect so cant test the graphics with a Test or a game but it does play movies ect fine. Anyone?

Has it always done this or is it new? I know with one of my old gpu's the splash screen would artifact horribly but everything else was perfectly fine.
Also I'm sure there's a gpu stress test app, but I can't seem to think of any off the top of my head.

Its a new problem, I know a few GPU stress tests but this laptop, though slow, will pass tests (and I mean real slow)
Just would like to look at this from another angle, I think the GPU, if it is the GPU its stuffed, before I bin the damn thing I would like to try everything I can to sort the problem.
