Default wireless card broken

So I was cleaning out a friends laptop cause she had it under her bed and it had large dust bunnies in it. Large enough in fact that the fan was stuck from having one in it. Well in the process of taking it apart i didnt notice the wire running to the wireless card was run over part of the case as i was removing the case. As I pulled up on the case the wire broke the corner of the card. It no longer works. I can get a new one of the exact same for $10 on ebay Im just wandering before I do if there might be an upgrade out there. The current card is a Realtek RTL8187B. Thanks for any help in advance.

I think if you have the driver any mini PCIe wifi card should work, but you may need to make sure the number of antennas matches the original number.

But don't quote me on this.
