Default A netbook is enough for me?

Hi all,

I'm a PHP programmer who does web browsing/programming and also who frequently travels.

What I use are basic programs which do not require huge performance. I use programs such as mainly notepad++ and appserv (apache, mysql, php) and some daily-used softwares. I have no expectation on designing, gaming, movies and stuff like that which requires more power.

Till last week I had a 13" Macbook but it broke and has no guarantee that's why I'm in a search of a new net(note)book. As a matter of fact I'd like to buy a new Macbook but the last generation Macbook with SD reader is not sold in my country yet.

At home I have a powerful desktop PC with core 2 duo, 4 gb rams, hd 4870, 24" LCD etc. I think whenever I need more power I could use this PC.

So could a netbook handle my needs, or should I stick with 12" 13" notebooks? What makes me want to buy a netbook is their ultra-mobility and battery-life.

What are your recommendations?

1000HE is a great netbook, 9.5 hours of battery life. Infact, I'm looking into buying it.

Yes, a netbook should be enough for your needs They should also be cheaper too.

i agree... you could also try the new 1005HA (successor to the 1000HE)... the white ones are selling for $350 or so: less than the 1000HE

If I had a MacBook and it broke without a warranty I'd be pretty pissed

But yes, a netbook will be fine. It will never be maxed out by the things you do, and even if you are you can just use the desktop at home as you said.

If you want a modders netbook, I'd get a Dell Mini 10v, MSI Wind, or a refurb Dell Mini 9. If you want lots of battery life, get an EEE
