Default Windows 7 x64 On Gateway NX570X (HELP!)

Greetings all, forgive me, it has been a while, but I come to you today with an annoying little problem.
I recently acquired a Gateway NX570X laptop for a very cheap price. Only issue with it seems to be that the battery is pretty much knackered, but a small issue being that I don't need battery power that often and I can replace it easy enough. The big issue I'm running into is the system is running an Intel Core Duo T2050 which is a 64-bit processor, but when I pop in my Windows 7 RC disc to install it over the OEM Vista Home Premium that came with the machine, it proceeds to tell me, when booting from the install DVD, that my processor does not support x64, I am, of course, confused. I can only assume that this has something to do with the BIOS, but I can't help but grumble over the fact that a computer manufacturer has blocked me from using my machine to it's full potential, not that I should be terrible surprised by this.
If anyone has some ideas as to how I can remedy this conundrum, I would be greatly appreciative.

tl;dr

OEM Laptop will not let me install x64 OS even though it has an x64 processor.

According to what I just read:

"Core Duo" CPUs are x86.

"Core 2 Duo" CPUs are x64.

Hrmm....
Well, the intel web site wouldn't lie about their own chips' specs. Odd, being that I swore CPUZ told me it was x64, and another page I read also said it had 64-bit instructions.
Thanks for settling that one for me so quickly. I fail at Google.
