I am thinking of putting Vista Ultimate on my Eee PC 1000HE. It came with XP Home, but I want Vista on it because I don't have enough experience with Vista yet. I have installed Vista reluctantly on my sig rig because I need to familiarize myself with it and honestly wouldn't go back to XP now.
__________________So is there anything I should know about doing this? Will I have driver problems? Will I be able to install the Eee Storage app? Will I be able to use the SuperHybridEngine app? I haven't used either of these yet so I don't know if I will miss them but it would be nice to have them if I wanted them. Another question that comes to mind, is Ultimate a good fit? Just got this thing about 4 weeks ago, use it only for taking notes in classes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Shouldn't be, but I'd put windows 7 on there before Vista, not quite as much of a resource hog...

Plus it's legally free Windows Update shouldn't have any problems finding drivers for the hardware. Not sure about the proprietary apps though.

My worry about Windows 7 is that it is not a complete product. Vista is, with service packs. I've heard Vista uses more memory, but has good memory management.

I've only been using Windows 7 for the past 3 days, but I see absolutely no reason to switch back to Vista. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.

Well I might as well try Windows 7, if I don't like it I can always try Vista or put XP back on it.

Downloading Windows 7 now. Anyone have any guides to getting Windows 7 on it as it doesn't have a optical disk drive? I have a usb hard drive that can run on USB power.

I put windows 7 RC on my brothers MSI Wind and it runs better than XP did.
There is a guide on OCN installing Windows 7 from a USB drive, which i used to put it on my brothers Wind.. let me find it. EDIT: Here you go.
