I love my T400, she's 1 1/2 months old. Gonna put W7 on her soon.

Good review, good to hear all ends well. And a T400 for $700 excellent. Order some more RAM and someday a bigger HDD and you will be set.

And Dude! That's not a DeLL.

Thanks for the review!

Could you post a picture of the keyboard? I went to Fry's yesterday and saw the G530 there and it seemed to have a strange placement of the pgup/pgdown/home/end keys.

I should probably use the ThinkVantage button, but the only Lenovo software I have is the PowerManager, so I can switch graphics.

The actual customer support isn't that good, when my credit card company botched my purchase and declined the order I sat on the phone for 30 minutes waiting for customer support before I finally hung up and just reordered it.

The depot support you get with the basic warranty is awesome though, if you have any hardware problems at all don't hesitate to take it in, its all done locally and chances are you'll get it back the next day.

I'll agree with you on the Lenovo China / India purchasing support, it sucks. Nobody speaks proper English and the autoupdate estimated ship date is somewhat upsetting.

This is a great review however, from what I tell you should've went with a lighter laptop. Personally I love every aspect of my x200s.

But its not like the T400 is in any way large... I was watching a tv show waiting for my next class when 2 graduate students sat down near me with their laptops, one of them even had a parallel port! I felt like I was using a netbook

The X200 isn't that much smaller or lighter than the T400 anyway.

^^^

And coming from a 17" Laptop that weighed about 12 pounds WITHOUT the power brick and had literally 7 seconds before the battery died (25 minutes originally,) this T400 is tiny. I didn't mind carrying a 22 pound aluminum case containing my laptop and brick, but I couldn't really use it for anything else other than a mobile desktop/desktop replacement. Compared to carrying Christmas trees down a hillside my old setup was light. The T400 is REALLY light. I might smash an X200 if I tried to login with my big lumberjack hands...
